WEST COLUMBIA - Gene Craig "Crocodile" Gleaton, I 65, of West Columbia, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017. A Celebration of his Life will begin with a visitation being held from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. Craig was born April 23, 1952 in Columbia, SC to Harold Jeffcoat Gleaton, Sr. and Maxine Corbett Gleaton. He graduated from Airport High School in 1970. Craig was a Custom Home Builder for 47 years throughout the southeast region. Craig was affiliated with Fish Hatchery Church of God and St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church. Craig enjoyed most of all spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, cooking and entertaining large crowds.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Maxine Gleaton; his son, Gene Craig Gleaton, II in 2009. He is survived by his children, Michael D. Gilstrap, Kristin D. Gleaton and Karlie M. Gleaton; 5 grandchildren, Alyssa, Dominic, Ava, Bailee and Mason Craig; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brother, Harold J. "Al" Gleaton (Karin) and his twin brother, Donald Gregg Gleaton, I (Pam); sister, Loretta G. Killian (Eddie) as well as many nieces, nephews and friends all of whom he loved dearly.
